Holy Cross 4, BU 2

The Boston University women's hockey team lost a home game, 4-2, to Holy Cross, the third-place team in Hockey East, last night.

The score was tied, 1-1, a mere 1:54 into the game after the Terriers' Neely Nicholson hit a goal. Holy Cross made it 3-1 midway through the second and BU pulled goalie Mari Pietersen (14 saves) for freshman Jackie Wright in her collegiate debut. Wright mage 7 more saves, but Holy Cross hit an empty net to make the score 4-1. BU still managed one more goal by Luisa Welcke, but the clock ran out with the final score, 4-2.

BU falls to 7-12-3 overall and 5-7-2 in Hockey East action. Their 19 points put them in fifth place behind BC (26 points) and ahead of New Hampshire (18 points).

Whatever. Tuesday night, the Terriers play the Harvard Crimson (10-10-1) in the TD Garden for the 2026 Beanpot Championship. Go, Terriers!
