Bruins 5, Blackhawks 2

The Blackhawks scored twice in the first period, which ended with a 2-0 Chicago lead. BFD. All they did was poke the bear, because the mighty Boston Bruins roared back with five unanswered goals to win the game, 5-2. Teach them to try to sneak in some early-game scores.

The Bruins' scoring started with some rear-guard action, with goals by defensemen Charlie McAvoy (BU, 2016) and Mason Lohrei, before the left-wing forward Viktor Arvidsson scored in the second. Lohrei scored again in the third, followed by a goal by forward Marat Khusnutdinov. Goalie Joonas Korpisalo made 22 saves on 24 shots for a .917 percentage.

The Bruins (28-19-2) remain eligible for a Wild Card berth, two points ahead of contenders Toronto. They are four points back from Detroit and Tampa Bay in the Atlantic Division.

From the chilly climes of snow-choked Chicago, the Bruins will travel south to Dallas, Texas for a Tuesday night game against the Stars (27-12-9). The game will be televised on TNT, and the puck drops at 7:30.
