Despite the fact that the last five posts have all been about hockey, SDW is NOT a hockey blog. But it is January, and puck is the flavor of the month.
But anyway, in non-hockey news, the Boston Celtics beat the Atlanta Hawks, 132-106, last night in a game called basketball. The Hawks, without Trae Young (traded) and Kristaps Porzingis (injured), had to rely on the 18 points of journeyman Nickeil Alexander-Walker (New Orleans-Utah-Minnesota-Utah-Minnesota-Atlanta).
Unfortunately for them, the Celtics had many tools at their disposal, not the least of which was Sam Hauser's 30 points on 10 three-pointers and Jaylen Brown's astonishing 41 points. Hauser and Brown alone combined for 71 total points. Hugo González contributed 7 points, three on a three, and snagged eight rebounds in his nearly 30 minutes of play. Overall, the Celtics out-rebounded the Hawks, 55-47, and thanks largely to Hauser, made 22 three-pointers to the Hawks' 15.
Boston improves to 26-15 and first place in the Atlantic Division, a game-and-a-half ahead of New York, and second overall in the East, 4½ back from Detroit.
The Celtics play in Detroit on Monday night in a crucial game against the Pistons (30-10). The game will be nationally televised by NBC, but are you kidding me? Monday night? There's not going to be a single mother-fucker watching that game with the NCAA National Football Championship between Miami and Indiana on at the same time.
