What a disappointing weekend for BU! The women get swept at home by Northeastern and the men get swept on the road by Maine.
Tonight, BU struck first with a Ben Merrill goal in the first minute of play. The excitement was short-lived though, because Maine came right back and tied the score within 30 seconds, and then scored two more times in the first for a 3-1 lead.
And basically, that's how it went the whole game. Brandon Svoboda scored in the second and Maine responded with another goal of their own. Kamil Bednarik scored a short-handed goal for the Terriers, and Maine responded with two more scores for a 6-3 lead. Conrad Fondrk's power-play goal made it 6-4 after two.
Swoboda scored again in the third, but that was it for the Terriers, while the Black Bears scored twice and finished the game, 8-5, including an open-netter in the closing minutes. The No. 12 Maine Black Bears upset the No. 5 BU Terriers with a sweep.
BU, 3-5-1 overall, falls to 1-3-0 in Hockey East, one point back from Maine and five points behind first place Northeastern.
