The Terriers had to settle for a tie on the road in this weekend home-and-away series against Providence, but after neither team could score in thee OT, BU won the shootout for the extra point in the Hockey East standing.
Providence took a 2-0 lead in the first period, but BU's Greta Henderson pulled the Terriers to within one with a goal in the second. As the clock expired and with the goalie, pulled, BU's Sydney Healey scored the game-tying goal with 30 seconds left in regulation. Healey and Luisa Welcke scored the winning shootout goals.
Throughout the game, BU had a huge lead in shots on goal, taking 34 shots to Providence's 19. BU goalie Mari Pietersen needed only 17 saves to maintain the tie.
The Terriers (3-10-1) are in sixth place in the Hockey East standings with 11 points. They're off this week for Thanksgiving break, but will return to the ice at Holy Cross (11-5-1) on Tuesday, December 2.
