Oh, for fuck's sake, a SPLIT is the best Boston can do with the last-place Orioles? I mean, a .500 team is gonna go .500 in the long run, but it won't get any easier than this.
Starting pitcher Walker Buehler gave up two runs over five innings, including a solo home run, and relief pitcher Greg Weissert gave up another homer in the sixth. Meanwhile, the Sox went scoreless for eight innings until Toro finally singled a runner home in the bottom of the 9th.
Congratulations, Boston: you've fallen down to third place, six games back from the Yankees. You're 27-28 on the season, one below .500. Sure, Casas and Yoshida are on the 60-day DL, and Bregman and González are on the 10-day list, and we have a total of six injured pitchers, but excuses aside we still need to do better than this.
Okay, tomorrow's another day. Let's put this rain-sodden weekend behind us and look forward. Tomorrow we have Garrett Crochet (4-3, 1.98) starting against the Milwaukee Brewer's Chad Patrick (2-4, 3.23) - surely we can get a win out of that matchup, right?
Right?
