Jayson Tatum went 1-for-8 on three-point shooting last night, but Jaylen Brown was 3-for-4, Derrick White was 4-for-8, and Payton Pritchard was 2-for-3. All told, the team sank 14 three-pointers and in so doing set a new NBA record for the most threes in a single season. The previous record (1,363) was set by the Golden State Warriors in the 2022-23 season. As of last night, the Celtics have 1,370.
And there's still five more games to go.
Porzingis had to leave the game early after he took an elbow to the face from Cody Martin. The cut required stitches, and there's no telling when he'll return to the lineup. With only five games left and the Division clinched, the Celtics ought to rest him and let him heal until the Playoffs.
Boston improves to 57-20 on the season. Sunday, they host the Washington Wizards (17-60) at the Garden.
