The Red Sox certainly made their home opener an interesting game.
Let's talk about that five-run first inning - Jarren Duran singles to center and then steals second, Rafael Devers walks, and then Alex Bregman doubles to left, scoring Duran. 1-0, Red Sox. After one out, Trevor Story homers to deep (378 feet) left, scoring Bregman and Devers. 4-0, Red Sox. In the very next at-bat, Wilyer Abreu homers to deep (408 feet) right center. 5-0, Red Sox. Great way to start your first home stand.
Things got a little unnecessarily interesting in the top of the ninth when the Sox gave up three runs and then loaded the bases with only one out, but a double play got us out of the jam, ended the inning, and won the game. 13-9, Red Sox.
Pitcher Walker Buehler gets his first win of the season. Reliever Aroldis Chapman gets the save.
The Sox improve to 4-4 (.500, baby!). Game 2 of this series is tomorrow at 4:00.
