The B.U. women's hockey were defeated, 2-1, last night by the upper-class twits of the Harvard Crimson in the championship game of the 2026 Beanpot. The Terriers' have taken a loss in the last three Beanpot title games.
Harvard scored first with an early goal in the opening period. The Terriers answered with a Maeve Kelly power-play goal midway through the period and the game remained tied at 1-1 for the rest of regulation as BU was unable to score on its final six power plays. A Harvard penalty shot in OT won the game for the Crimson.
Despite taking the loss, BU outshot Harvard, 47-15, in the game as Harvard goalie Ainsley Tuffy won the tournament MVP award with 46 saves on 47 shots. BU's Mari Pietersen went a relatively leisurely 13 on 15.
Harvard's not in Hockey East so it was a non-conference loss for the Terriers, who move to 7-13-3 on the season. Next up for BU are two home games against the Vermont Catamounts (10-12-4).
