The Celtics win a nail biter that came down to the last 10 seconds, when there were five separate fouls and five sets of free throws. Pritchard hit the last pair with 2.4 seconds to go, and then Jordan Walsh stole the ball from the Pistons to seal the win.
Mr. Brown led the Celtics with 33 points and 10 rebounds and Mr. White had 27 and 7. White finally found his old three-point groove again, going 6-11 from downtown with all six of the successful shots in the second half. As a team, the Celtics were 20-43 on threes, although they were still outrebounded by their opponent, 56-44. The Pistons picked up 21 offensive rebounds to the Celtics' 12, and those extra shots on net is what kept the Pistons in the game.
With the win, the Celtics improve to 10-8 and move up above Philadelphia (9-8) into third place in the Atlantic, 3½ games back from Toronto.
The Celtics' next game is Sunday (5:00 pm) in Minnesota against Anthony Edwards and the T-Wolves (10-8).
