Red Sox 3, Mariners 1

I'm not a statistician, but I believe that the Boston Red Sox win games more often when they don't give up grand slam homers and 8 runs in the first four innings like last night, and when we score more than zero runs, like last night.

Today, we salvaged a 2-1 win in the Seattle series with a 2-1 road win. Marcelo Mayer homered deep into right center in the 2nd and Trevor Story shot the ball to deep center in the 4th, scoring baserunner Mayer in the process. Add to that eight strikeouts over six innings by Crochet and three shutout innings of relief by the bullpen, and we've got ourselves a win. We only got three hits the whole game, but it's nice when two of those three are homers, and the pitching keeps us in the game.

The Red Sox are 8-2 in their last ten games (10-3 in their last 13) and two games above .500 (39-37) as they head to San Francisco to play Raffy and the Giants (41-32). They're off tomorrow, but will start Hunter Dobbins (4-1, 3.74) against Hayden Birdsong (3-1, 2.79) on Friday night (10:15 pm).

This will be interesting.
