Red Sox 7, Giants 5

Rafael who? Not to dwell on the unpleasant realities of Devers getting traded to S.F., but Raffy went 0-5 at the plate last night, striking out once and leaving three on base. His batting average is .188.

Oh, yeah, meanwhile the Red Sox beat the San Francisco Giants, 7-5, coming back from an 0-3, second inning deficit. David Hamilton and Ceddanne Rafaela homered. Starter Hunter Dobbins only lasted four innings but gave up all five of the Giants' runs, and Boston went deep into the bullpen after he left, bringing on a total of six relievers. Brennan Bernardino wound up with the win, his third of the season, although he only pitched one inning, the fifth, and Aroldis Chapman got the save, his 14th.

With the Yankees continuing to collapse - they're 1-7 since getting swept by the Sox - Boston is now only four games back from first, although still 4th overall in the AL East standings. We're 8-2 over the last ten games. It's rare for these ill-fated Red Sox to have a win streak coincide so fortunately with a New York losing streak.

Brayan Bello (3-1, 3.49) takes the mound this afternoon (4:05 Eastern) against Landon Roupp (4-5, 3.99). Let's hope and pray that Devers continues to sleepwalk through this series.
