Red Sox Shut Out Yankees, 2-0, to Complete Three-Game Sweep

I didn't dare say it yesterday, but Boston did it anyway - swept the Yankees in Fenway Park. Today it was a seven-inning effort by Brayan Bello with no runs, only three hits, and  eight strikeouts. Story got an RBI single in the first inning to start the scoring, and Raffy hit a solo homer in the fifth, his 15th home run of the season. The Yankees Aaron Judge went 0-4, striking out three times and leaving four men on base.

The Red Sox (37-36) are now 6½ out of first, still in fourth and closer to last than first, but they're making progress. As for the Wild Card standings, they're now tied with three other teams (Cleveland, Seattle, and Minnesota) for the last qualifying spot.

Can you believe it? This team that looked all but dead just a little over a week ago, has won five straight games and is 5-1 against New York so far this season. All this with Alex Bregman still on the DL.

Yankees suck.

The Sox are probably on a plane right now flying up to Cascadia to play three in Seattle starting tomorrow night. The Mariners are 35-34 and will start pitcher Logan Gilbert (1-1, 2.37) against Boston's Giolito (2-1, 5.45).
