No Triston Casas, no home runs for the Red Sox today. Coincidence? I think not.
We may not have gotten any homers, but Jarren Duran did hit a triple in the seventh, scoring Connor Wong. But starter Hunter Dobbins gave up four runs over six innings and even though the bullpen held up and kept it at four, the Boston offense came up short, left ten runners on base, and couldn't catch up.
Romy Gonzalez filled in at first for the injured Casas, who will be out for the rest of the season it was confirmed today. Gonzalez went 3-for-4 at the plate and struck out once, and got caught stealing in the fourth.
The rubber match of this weekend series is tomorrow, 1:35 pm. The Sox' Garrett Crochet (3-2, 2.05) will face the Twins' Chris Paddack (0-3, 5.60). Statistically, you gotta like the home team's chances here, even without Casas in the lineup.
