The Red Sox win! Juan Soto goes 1-for-4 at bat! The bullpen doesn't blow a lead! It's time to celebrate!
Seriously. All the scoring got done early - in the first two innings, and all on a Bregman sacrifice grounder, a Story single, and a Duran triple. The Mets' lone run was on a single in the 3rd. Then Cora pulled starter Hunter Dobbins (5 hits, 1 run, 2 Ks) and went deep in the bullpen, pitching Justin Wilson (who got the win), Weissert, Slaten, and Aroldis Chapman (who got a save, his 7th).
The Sox are still under .500 and still 4½ back, but it feels good to get a quality win against a .604 ball team. Feels so good, we should do it again, say, tomorrow at 6:45, Walker Buehler (4-1, 4.28) vs. Clay Holmes (5-2, 3.14).
