Today's game started early because of the Boston Marathon. Apparently, the City wants to make sure there's a maximum of traffic and security issues and so time the two events to coincide as closely as possible. For the record, John Korir of Kenya won the Marathon this year with an unofficial time of 2:04:45 (his brother Wesley won the Marathon in 2012). Alphonce Felix Simbu of Tanzania came in second and Cybrian Kimurgor Kotut of Kenya came in third, both finishing with a time of 2:05:04. American Conner Mantz finished in fourth, four seconds behind Simbu and Kotut.
Meanwhile, in Fenway, Rob Refsnyder got his first home run of the season with a 413-foot shot to deep left center. Trevor Story went 3-for-4, including an RBI single in the third, and Kristian Campbell went 2-for-3, including a two RBI single in the same inning. Starting pitcher Walker Buehler held the White Sox to one run through seven innings, and then our old friend and former Red Sox Andrew Benintendi homered off reliever Aroldis Chapman in the eighth. Boston held on for the 4-2 win.
Boston (13-11) will host the Seattle Mariners for three games starting tomorrow at 6:45.
