An uncharacteristically bad start by pitcher Garrett Crochet (five hits, four runs, five walks, and nine K's over five innings) gave Seattle all they needed to win the rubber match of this homestand series. Bregman homered in the first and hit an RBI single in the third, and Carlos Narváez hit a solo homer 349 feet into right in the eighth, but it wasn't enough to keep up with the Mariners.
The Sox end this homestand going 4-3 and fall to 14-13 overall and two games back from the Yankees, although they managed to stay in second place in the AL East. They head to Cleveland (14-10) for a weekend series. The struggling Tanner Houck (0-2, 7.66) hopes his fortunes turn around in his start tomorrow against Ben Lively (1-2, 3.86).
