Celtics Beat Knicks to Sweep Season Series

The first-string Celtics starters (Tatum, Brown, Porzingis, Holiday, and White) all played tonight, free of injuries and personal issues, and beat a scrappy Knicks team in MSG, 119-117. With the win, the Celts sweep the season series with the Knicks, and if they win tomorrow night in Orlando, their last road game of the season, they will set an NBA record for most road wins in a season.

Porzingis led the Celtics with 34 points, including 8 three-pointers on 13 attempts.

The Knicks led, 58-52 at the half, but a 31-20 third quarter gave Boston a five-point lead after three. But the Knicks answered with a strong fourth, and the game was tied at 107 at the end of regulation. Another Porzingis three-pointer and four Jrue Holiday free throws gave Boston the lead in the last minute,  although a 27-foot Jalen Brunson three-pointer at the buzzer kept the Knicks close.

The Celtics have won 17 of their last 19 games. An historic road win tomorrow in Orlando will be the icing on the cake before the playoffs begin. Tip-off is at 7:00.
