Stars 3, Bruins 2 (OT)

More like Mikko Rantanen 3, Bruins 2. The Stars' wingman scored all of Dallas' points last night with a hat trick, his third, fourth, and fifth goals of the season, including the third period goal that tied the game up and the OT goal that won the game.

Matthew Poitras scored in the first period for the Bruins. Rantanen tied it up in the second, but then James Hagens gave the Bruins a 2-1 lead with a goal that period. After that, it was all Rantanen - the lone third period goal and an  OT power-play goal.

BU defenseman Charlie McAvoy (BU, 2016) had four blocks and made two hits. The Stars' Jake Oettinger (BU, 2019) made 18 saves for the Stars, while the Bruins' Jeremy Swayman made 22.  Swayman's 206 saves on the season are the second most in the NHL.

The Bruins (7-2-1) pick up a point in the standings for the OT loss and still lead the Atlantic Division with 15 point, one point ahead of Tampa Bay and three up on Ottawa and Florida.

That's it for this current road trip. The Bruins went 3-0-1 in the West and will play their first home game since October 10 on Thursday when they host the Nashville Predators (3-2-3). Both teams are defensive juggernauts - the Bruins have limited opponents to 30 goals, second fewest in the NHL, while Nashville has allowed only 32, third in the league (Dallas is first with only 17).

Puck drops at 7:00.
