So it goes.

The Red Sox lose a home series, 1-2, to the team with the worst record in the American League. If the team isn't interested in winning, why should I care if they win or lose?

The Sox fall to 80-67 and four back from the Yankees in the Wild Card standings with 15 games left to the season. It's looking increasingly likely that the season will end with two losses in the Bronx in the Wild Card round.  

Meanwhile, this easy, late-season homestand against AL basement dwellers, this scheduling gift from above, resumes tomorrow with three games against Kansas City (65-82). Sonny Grey (17-4, 2.69) is scheduled to start against Seth Lugo (6-8, 5.04). If ever there's a time to seize the moment and win the top Wild Card spot, it's now.
