Rockies 8, Red Sox 6

The Sox just lost a series to the team with the worst won-loss record in baseball, but you know what?  Yesterday, a 7.5-magnitude earthquake struck Venezuela 39 seconds after a 7.2-magnitude foreshock, killing at least 164 people and injuring 971 more. Boston's Ranger Suarez, Willson Contreras, Andruw Montaserio, Carlos Narvaez, and Wilyer Abreu are all from Venezuela.

I'm gonna step back and take a break from ranting about the team's lack of success today. Contreras hit an RBI double in the second inning and Monteserio homered in the fifth. Suarez pitched six innings with nine K's before the bullpen blew up the game with five earned runs.

I'm giving the team a pass today. There's bigger things in the world than grown men playing a game out in a field on summer days.

I don't know whether any of the Red Sox players are personally affect by the tragedy in Venezuela or not, but I'm sure it's on all of the players' minds. Best wishes and consolations.

Bring on the Yankees. What have we got to lose (other than four straight games)?
