The Red Sox earn another trophy by winning their first road series of the season after beating St. Louis, 9-3, yesterday and taking the series, two games to one.
Willson Contreras hit a two-run homer in the first and an RBI single in the fourth, Roman Anthony earned an RBI on a ground out in the second, Jarren Duran hit a three-run double into deep left field in the fourth, and Trevor Story hit a two-run double in the ninth. Brayan Bello earned the win by going 6⅔ innings with two runs on six hits, two K's, and two walks.
There are now four teams in Major League Baseball with worse records than the Red Sox (6-9). Boston is tied with Toronto for the fifth-worse team in the league, and both are only two games back from Baltimore and New York for first place in the AL East.
And it's Crochet Day! The Sox travel up to Minnesota for a four-game series, starting with Garrett Crochet (2-1, 3.12) against Bailey Ober (1-0, 5.27), who's 1-2 in four starts against the Red Sox.
