BU 4, Northeastern 3

The No. 20 Boston University Terriers score two unanswered goals late in the third period and bounce back from a 3-2 deficit to win their last game of the calendar year.

Northeastern jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but Brandon Svoboda scored a goal in the first to cut the lead in half. Sacha Boisvert scored in the second to tie it up, but Northeastern scored a goal in literally the last second of the period to pull back ahead. But then in the third, after 18:00 minutes of scoreless play, Kamil Bednarik tied the game back up with his fifth goal of the season, and then, 19 seconds later, Svoboda scored again to win the game.

Yegorov made 18 saves on on 21 shots (.857).

The game was the last to be played in Northeastern's Matthews Arena. Built in 1909, it is the world's oldest multi-purpose athletic building still in use, as well as the oldest arena in use for ice hockey. On October 10, 1910, Teddy Roosevelt delivered a speech there. The Doors performed a show there in 1970, and in the early '70s, it was the Terrier's home arena. Northeastern is tearing it down for a new, modern facility.

BU is now 9-8-1 overall and 6-5-0 in Hockey East play. Their 17 points put them third in the conference, behind UConn (22 points) and BC (21). The Terriers are off on holiday break for the rest of the year but will resume play with a weekend home-and-away series with UMass (9-9-0) on January 9 and 10.
