In the low-water-mark of this young season, the Boston Bruins lost to the Ottawa Senators, 7-2, up in Canada. Since that loss, they've won five straight games, including last night's 3-2 OT retribution win at home against the Senators.
In the second period, Morgan Geekie scored the first goal for the Bruins, his 10th of the season. Sean Kuraly scored later in that some period, and Pavel Zacha got the OT goal. Joonas Korpisalo was 20-22 in the net (.909). Our old friend, former Bruins goaltender Linus Ullmark, was .880 for Ottawa.
With these wins, the points come flowing in like meltwater. The Bruins are now 9-7-0 on the season and have 18 points, two back from Montreal and tied with 2nd-place Detroit, who lead Boston in the standings with the better goal differential.
The Bruins head back to Canada to play the Maple Leafs (8-5-1) on Saturday night (7:00 pm).
