Another tough, back-and-forth, see-saw of a game. Another Red Sox loss.
Unlike last night's dirty dozen, this game had "only" seven lead changes. Boston scored first, but then Detroit tied it up. Boston scored again off a solo Bregman homer, but then Detroit tied it back up again. A couple innings later, Detroit went up by three, but the next inning, Boston scored three and we had the third tie of the game. But in the bottom of the ninth, the Tigers squeezed out a game-winning run on a single, and the Sox suffer their first sweep of the season.
We also fall into third place in the AL East, four games back from New York.
Let's go home: the Red Sox will take tomorrow off and then host the Atlanta Braves for a weekend series in Fenway. Garrett Crochet (4-2, 1.93) will face off in the opener against our old friend and former ace, Chris Sale, who's fallen to 1-3 and 3.97.
Should be interesting.
