It's almost a repeat of the script from last night's game: the Red Sox get a 2-0 lead off of an Alex Bregman double in the fifth inning. The starting pitcher, this time Tanner Houck, gives up a homer in the seventh, but the Sox still lead, 2-1. Then our unreliable bullpen, this time reliever Justin Slaten, gives up a three-run homer in the 8th, and the Sox lose on the road,4-2, after squandering their two-run lead.
Once again, we left the starting pitcher in for too long, and once again, we're defeated by our shaky bullpen.
The Sox fall to 17-16, two games back from the idle Yankees. The Red Sox return home for a weekend series against the Minnesota Twins (13-19), surely a team we can sweep in Fenway.
