Raffy hit a grand-slam homer to deep (460 feet) center in the third inning, scoring Duran, Rafaela, and David Hamilton. The rest of the game sucked.

Starter Brayan Bello (2-1), who was perhaps left in the game too long, saw his ERA jump from 2.33 to 4.02. The Sox are now two games below .500 (23-25) and 4½ games out of first with the Yankees still yet to play today. 

C'mon, Red Sox. If you're going to be our ray of sunshine this season, our guiding light through this long hot summer, we're going to need more from you than this.

Next up is a three-game homestand series against Juan Soto and the Mets (29-17), who are 1-1 so far this weekend in their three-game series against the Yankees. Hunter Dobbins (2-1, 3.90) will start off against Kodai Senga (4-2, 1.02).
